Department overview:

Development teams within IHS Markit consist of senior developers, developers and architects who together are responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of market-leading software, databases and tools used by our world-recognized experts to analyze markets and forecast industry trends.


Position summary

We are looking for a Developer to join the development team, to design and implement the next generation of features for these applications for applications in our Energy division. The role offers extensive business and technical challenges in a highly dynamic and collaborative work environment. A passion for quality and a sense of pride in your work are an absolute must for the role. The role offers the right candidate opportunities to develop industry-leading tools and databases.


Duties & accountabilities

  • Participate in the design, planning and development of solutions based on business requirements.
  • Assist in establishing project timelines; manage assigned component of project within time constraints.
  • Be an active and highly collaborative team member as part of an agile development team.
  • Collaborate and share technical and business knowledge to members of the Development and wider organization.
  • Shows an affinity for finding solutions through discussions with team members.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills to solve complex problems.
  • Contribute insights and suggestions as part of our continuous improvement.
  • Have an ability to think practically while assessing the circumstances and make the best decision based on the facts.

Education and experience

  • Masters or Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional programming experience

Management requirements

  • Strong inter-personal skills required. Ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Able to provide regular progress and status updates on your development tasks to your manager and peers

Personal impact

  • Solid understanding of OOP principles
  • Programming Experience in developing web applications using .Net Core 2.2+, .Net frameworks 3.5+, ASP.Net with C#, ASP.Net MVC
  • Ability to create simple and intuitive user interfaces using HTML5 and CSS3
  • Hands on development experience with front end technologies such as bootstrap, Jquery, Javascript, TypeScript, and AJAX
  • knowledge of Core Angular and Angular 4+
  • Good Knowledge on ADO.NET, Entity Framework and LINQ.
  • Exposure in building API, RESTful web services and JSON
  • Programming experience for MS SQL Server database platform
  • Exposure in RDLC, and Crystal Reports
  • Exposure to AWS is a plus
  • Diagnosis skills & knowledge of refactoring techniques is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology
  • Aware of Test Driven Development & Continuous Integration

Communication

  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
  • Proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of development best practices are critical to successful performance in this role

Teamwork

Ability to collaborate in a team environment. Experience in Agile development methodology is a plus.

Commercial awareness

  • Understanding of Financial Domain
