Product Services Analyst, OTC Derivatives Data

Markit OTC Derivative Data (OTC DD) is an IHS Markit product which covers the three major asset classes of Interest Rates, FX and Equities. The service provides daily high-quality OTC derivative data to both buy-side and sell-side clients.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual with experience in derivative pricing and the related market datasets to be part of a team of analysts that supports the creation, maintenance and delivery of derivatives market data sets for use by customers in the valuation of their portfolios.

The OTC DD Product Services team monitors input reference and data feeds/alerts, resolves data issues and performs critical quality control on derived output in order to ensure accuracy, reliability and timely delivery. They additionally work closely with customers from initial onboarding through general daily support, and with internal Technology, Product Development and Business Development colleagues around the world to support the global business. The team also participates in broader product initiatives, such as assisting in the onboarding of new product types, and operational workflow analysis.

Duties & Accountabilities

  • Performing trials with prospective customers and onboarding to the production platform upon contract execution.
  • Take responsibility for daily data cleaning and quality controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of market data objects such as yield curves, forward curves and volatility surfaces.
  • Handling simple and complex price challenges and resolving them to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Creation, expansion and on-going maintenance of reference/static datasets across asset class.
  • Timely addition of new data coverage in response to client demand.
  • Participation in broader OTC DD initiatives, such as the improvement of new operational processes by working closely with the technology and product development teams.

Business Competencies

Education and experience


  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in a finance/accounting or STEM discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of manipulating and validating large and complex sets of traded market information such as prices, rates and volatilities.
  • Some previous exposure to market data objects such as yield curves, forward curves or volatility surfaces is preferable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA.


  • Relevant practical experience (2-5 years).
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Experience with C# and/or any scripting language.
  • Good understanding of market and reference datasets used in the valuation of OTC derivatives across asset classes.
  • Familiarity with Market Data Providers such as Refinitive, SIX Telekurs, etc.

Commercial awareness

  • Must have general understanding of financial markets, and be keen to extend knowledge of OTC derivatives across all asset classes.
  • Must embrace the importance of high service levels as part of a commercial relationship.
  • Understanding of derivative trading / quoting conventions in one or more asset classes would be desirable.
  • Appreciation of the business criticality of ODD quality, gained within previous roles.
