Position summary

This position is in NY on the Markit EDM North American Sales Team with responsibility for the coverage across verticals, with an initial focus on Financial Services and Energy.  The person will be responsible for generating new business through cold calls/emails, networking and working with other IHS Markit Teams to generate new opportunities. The role will report to the North American Head of Sales.

The ideal candidate has either a couple years of sales experience or is looking to start their career in sales. This is a newly created role, so the candidate must be a self-starter with the capability to bring ideas to the table for revenue generation.  

Duties & accountabilities:

  • Lead generation for the Financial Services and Energy Teams
  • Generates referrals and new business from both new & existing customers
  • Execute monthly lead and opportunity creation targets
  • Generate meetings via cold campaigns – calls, emails, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Following up on sales enquiries within agreed time frames to open sales opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within and outside of the Markit EDM team
  • Development and execution of a prospecting sales strategy

Education and experience:

  • Years of experience 2-10
  • Sales experience not required but helpful
  • Knowledge and experience of financial services and/or energy markets preferred
  • Self-driven and motivated to learn new things
  • Result-oriented and ability to meet/exceed targets
  • Being able to deliver under high pressure and challenging environment
  • Strong presentation, communication (written and verbal) and people skills
  • Team player and willing to progress in a rapidly changing environment
